Sneaky peek…

Nutty stared in silence, his mouth hanging open. All he could hear was:

“Hongy hongy hongy – hongy Rabbit.”

He didn’t know what to say.

Then one of the onions piped up.

“Excuse me, Mr. Rabbit.”

“Not now,” said Nutty, still staring at the pigeon and trying to think of something to say.

“It’s just that I thought you might need some help,” continued the onion. “I understand what the

pigeon said.”

“You do?” asked Nutty. “How?”

“I speak French – I’m a French onion. Let me help.”

And then the onion and the pigeon started to jabber away in a language that Nutty had never

heard.

When they’d finished, the pigeon stepped back and looked up at Nutty.

“Mon Dieu, mon Dieu. Tut, tut, tut,” said the pigeon. “Your onion tells me you do not speak zee

French. Eh bien. We begin again.”
